The driver is designed to operate the light from the 120 Vac inverter that is included with the light. The Driver/Converter will drive your 300 LED light at Full Power to a depth of 100' via the marine grade cable included. Until now no one has offered this style of light that can be submerged to even close to a 100 foot depth with full brightness.
Without the use of the included driver you would only get about one half of the potential brightness due to naturally occurring voltage losses over the length of cable.
I have talked with Stripe Bass guides around the country that catch their bait very deep using cast nets with a very long hand line. As you can imagine they cannot see what bait might or might not be at these depths other than delayed electronic displays. They get a real advantage by having a light already deployed far down in the water column which has concentrated bait in the area that their net will be passing through.
Being able to run the light at full power is the only way to get the maximum lumen output. Other companies are glad to tell you about the maximum output that their light is rated at, while knowing the whole time that their light is totally incapable of performing at that level with more that 20' of cable attached.
I have until now used a passive driving technique that I have called the Green Fire Driver that allows my light to operate at full potential with 25 to 30' of cable. I have finally been able to find reliable and affordable components to put together a serious Active Driver package that I can stand behind. This will allow fisherman of all walks to get the advantage that they have been looking for in the Abyss below.
