In  June 1997 Janie and her husband George created one of the first photo articles on miniature Fairy Bears and their creators for Teddy Bear and Friends Magazine. It was titled 'Faries at the Bottom of My Garden'  in it they debuted her miniature acorn elf and fairy bears and presented a treasury of tiny magical creations by other noted miniature artists.
Over the years Janie's acorn elf bears have sprouted  wings, and appeared in varied styles of woodsy attire. Some ride in or push acorn wheeled nut shell carts.    All of them wear tiny real acorn hats.  Janie has always loved gathering acorns in the fall for these magical little creations and they have ever been high on her favorites list.  This is a new Acorn Elf Bear created from one of Janie's  recently rediscovered classic miniature designs from the '90s; she decided to make one 'just to see'  and liked him so that much she has updated the pattern for her latest little~ 'Acorn Elf
Beary'.
The  ensemble features a wooden oak leaf presentation stand, hand painted by Janie with real acorns attached to the stem and a separate acorn emery for Acorn Elf Beary to play with.
Acorn Elf Beary is hand sewn from golden brown vintage upholstery velvet; his paw pads are rich brown ultra suede.  He stands 2 1/4" tall, excluding his acorn cap.  He is fully jointed with poseable wire armatures in arms and legs.  His leafy collar is crafted of hand cut ultra suede oak leaves in dark and light green.  The eyes are black onyx beads and  Beary's facial features are hand embroidered as is his collar.  Beary's jaunty acorn cap is attached to his head by thread.
The hand painted  wooden oak leaf is 3 1/4" long x 1/8" thick.  It is signed and dated by Janie on its back.
The Acorn Emery is 1" long x 7/8" across the cap.  It is filled with wool and crushed garnet and can be used as a sewing aid for sharpening needles and pins.
